The Witching Hour

I don’t often “review” the books I read as I’d be writing every day or so…

Plus I’m reading for my pleasure not to let others know how many books I’ve read etc.

However there’s always an exception and this has been it.

Audiobook player screen. At the top, it shows the time (19:57) and battery level (74%). The main book cover displayed features leaves, gold chains, snowflakes, and an old-fashioned pocket watch, with the title in the center: "The Witching Hour: Ghostly Tales for the Darkest Nights." Contributing authors' names are written on the leaves, including Andrew Michael Hurley, Natasha Pulley, Michelle Paver, Imogen Hermes Gowar, Kiran Millwood Hargrave, Bridget Collins, Stacey Halls, Stuart Turton, Susan Stokes-Chapman, Elizabeth Macneal, Laura Shepherd-Robinson, Jess Kidd, and Catriona Ward.

Below the cover is the title of the current section playing: "Opening Credits." The progress bar shows the audiobook is at the very start, with 12 hours 36 minutes left. Control buttons for playback, speed, car mode, timer, and clips are listed at the bottom.

The Witching Hour is well worth a read in my opinion I of course read the audiobook it is available in ebook and hardcover (paperback edition out next year).

There wasn’t a dud story in the book.

It’s hard to say anything about any of the stories without giving away too much but considering I’ve been struggling to stay awake thanks to low folic acid meaning I’ve been sleeping through the night and having a couple of naps in the day too the fact I’d reachfor the next story in between naps helped me to function.

The stories are about ethereal beings , or about ghosts, or about magic. And I knew at the end of the third chapter this was a book to share with my daughter, my sister, and my sister-in-law as I sincerely believe they will enjoy it.

I know there were 2 previous collections and if they live up to the same quality they will be thought provoking and enjoyable reads as well.

Until next time
