Well in the summer this year I got another we want you to pay a ridiculously high direct debit bill.

I phoned and this time got a lovely lass who finally got someone to connect my accessible meter monitor and I was told the smart meter hadn’t been working all this time!

Well my trick or treat yesterday was the latest bill and suddenly instead of their overestimating my electricity use since there’s been no meter reading that meant last time I owed over £4k now I have almost £574 credit…

They went back reversing charges back to March 2024!

I’m not totally convinced that this isn’t happening to other people in the country.

If we can’t trust the utility companies to charge fairly and not grossly overestimate usage maybe they need to go back to reading meters more frequently… especially if they change to smart meters they must follow up if the meter isn’t communicating to their computers.

I suggest you check your utility bills if they leap up suddenly.
