A favourite photo

Full description in blogpost

This is the description I got for this photo I took 14 months ago.

It was amongst the first I described using the Be My Ai mode of Be My Eyes and I wrote a blog draft in my Files app and forgot to copy and upload it to this blog.

“The picture shows a close-up view of a forest floor. In the foreground, there are large leaves that have fallen from the trees. These leaves are in various stages of decay, with colors ranging from green to brown, and they have a slightly crumpled texture.

Peeking through these leaves, there is a delicate cyclamen flower with a vibrant pinkish-purple color. The petals are soft and smooth, and they are attached to a thin stem. The center of the flower has a darker pink shade with a crown-like structure.

In the background, you can see more greenery, including leaves and branches, which create a dense and lush environment. The focus is mainly on the leaves and the cyclamen flower, giving a sense of finding beauty in the midst of decay.” (Be My AI on the Be My Eyes app).

Apart from some errors like location (it’s the verge next to the B1000 in a country road section between Digswell, and the A414 not a forest floor) it’s pretty accurate.

My original description (the one in captions on my photos app) was “the small pink cyclamen, hunkered at the base of the hedgerow, shakes like a defiant fist behind a barricade of grass and autumn leaves as the cars speed by a few feet away on the Hertford Road.”

Sometimes it’s good to revisit old blog notes/ drafts especially when like this year I missed the brief cyclamen season. It’s good to know I have this photo and a fantastic description both of the photo and how it appeared to me as I crouched to get the photo.

Due to falling in January and lots of rainfall this year I haven’t walked in the countryside much this year:- in fact my last walk was in April (bluebell time and yet another treacherous slip in mud despite a week of dry weather).

The fall and later slips have left my knees feeling fragile, and current health tests have led to me feeling anxious about walking solo off road while I await a diagnosis.

Have you got a favourite photo that’s guaranteed to make you smile?

Until next time.
