Everyone loves getting an unexpected card don’t they?
My kryptonite is being able to read the message inside. I love the boldly printed Moon Pig cards my daughter sends me- the font is very plain and because it is bold (thicker than normal print) and a large I can decipher it with my own eyes…
But what do I do with joined up writing, scribed with a fine pen, even if it be “writ large” like I received today?

Well after admiring the watercolour effect rainbow heart on the front I opened the card and reaching for my iPhone 13 Pro I activated voiceover (Apple’s screenreader) and opened the camera app where eventually I managed to hold card and phone so that my phone attempted to read the message… not the best reading but enough I could know who sent the card and why. And if I’d accidentally opened someone else’s card as a cash enclosure had dropped out.

The video I’ve linked to is something I put together to show how 2 other apps did a better job of reading the handwriting.
Seeing AI has several modes which are expertly described in this playlist by Henshaws on YouTube and is one of the first apps I added to my blind apps file.

And Be My AI I described here https://wasthatadinosaurcouk.uk/2023/09/05/oh-my-gosh/
and here https://wasthatadinosaurcouk.uk/2023/09/05/oh-my-gosh-2/
So now I no longer need to curl up and weep as my Apps have my back when I get unexpected handwritten messages.
Until next time.
