A memory from Facebook on 6 September 2017 “How did my day go Facebook asks. Well after fun with my grandson had a hospital appointment (need an MRI on my back to check what damage I did a few months back since it still hurts and new pill to protect the bones because having been on steroids for nine months may have damaged my bones).
Then walked home via the shops, crossed a busy road on light controlled crossing. The light is red the cars stop, a queue in each direction I get just over halfway over when an asshat on a bike passes the cars on my left and just behind me a couple of panicked stumble steps get me on the pavement and I fought the tears all the way home.
I have safely crossed roads 1000s of times since losing the ability to see the asshats and just about 3 or 4 asshat incidents but they are the ones that knock my confidence and make me anxious.”
I still find these types of incidents are the ones where I’m most effected. I’m finding them to be far less often (maybe because I’m even more aware of the tiny sounds made from bicycle wheels so notice the sound earlier) and when they do happen I lose a bit of confidence in my ability which is ridiculous as I can’t control how cyclists ignore the Highway Code.
Until next time.
