Accomplishment

What positive emotion do you feel most often?

Too often I used to note only where I failed.

I’m currently at my daughter’s home and brought some hand sewing for me to do when they are watching tv of an evening. Last night I made a boo-boo on the 4th (and last) hexagon I brought with me that is made by sewing 4 small half hexagons (snail fabric) around a large diamond (bird fabric) and filling the 2 gaps left with small diamonds (wide stripe fabric).

If you can’t spot the mistake take another look at the top right.

4 hexagons arranged in a square. The top right instead of sewing the small diamond in the second gap opposite the 1st I sewed it to the straight side turning it into a 3D object rather than the flat hexagon it should be.

Before I would have been frustrated to the nth degree by my mistake. Yesterday (28 August 2023) I went to bed, slept soundly, and then unpicked the oopsy diamond this morning and was impressed with how securely stitched it was.

Now I’m looking forward to restitching the diamond in the correct position so I can start my next set of 7 hexagons.

I’m enjoying celebrating my accomplishments much more than getting frustrated with my mistakes.

Until next time.
